Stop the Bleed
Uncontrolled bleeding is the number one cause of preventable death from trauma. Everyone should have basic training in Bleeding Control principles to provide immediate, frontline aid -- until first responders are able to take over the care of an injured person. The U Health trauma team provides Stop the Bleed courses for groups in the community: from students to parents to professionals.
Injury Prevention Learning Series
The Injury Prevention Learning series offers an interactive virtual learning environment for community members; affiliate or partner organizations; as well as health care personnel. These quarterly sessions focus on providing injury prevention methods for varying high-incidence mechanisms in our region as they relate to activity and season changes. Please join us the third Thursday of every quarter 11:30 am - 12:30 pm (MT) to engage with health care and community experts who will be sharing their expertise and experience to help everyone safely navigate different activities.
Additional Trauma Resources
Yellow Dot Program
Have you thought about what the immediate aftermath of a serious crash might be? These considerations and the importance of administering the most effective care as quickly as possible to crash victims led to the creation of the Yellow Dot Program. By completing the Yellow Dot form individuals are able to communicate critical information to first responders when, as a crash victim, they might not be able to speak for themselves. This program acts as a facilitator only.
Trauma Survivors Network (TSN)
The Trauma Survivors Network (TSN), created by the American Trauma Society in 2008, aims to support trauma patients and their families in navigating hospital stays and facilitating recovery. TSN offers practical information, peer support, and skill-building resources. Collaborating with trauma centers, TSN fosters online communities and provides training for healthcare providers. Research shows that TSN implementation positively impacts post-trauma outcomes and aids in supporting those grieving the loss of a loved one.
