The neonatologists at University of Utah Health partner with you for newborn care through the TeleNICU program. Our experts are available 24/7 for collaboration with nursery providers to determine the best course of action for each patient. Having a neonatologist available virtually can allow you to avoid unnecessary transfers and enables neonates to remain with their mothers while continuing to receive care at their delivery hospital.
TeleNICU sites have access to education, consultation, and recommendations from U of U Health experts for a wide variety of neonatal problems. Consults enable immediate support and identification of a neonate who requires transfer to a Level 3 or 4 NICU. TeleNICU neonatologists are available 24/7 for:
- delivery of stand-by and real-time care instruction,
- virtual attendance for emergent or high-risk deliveries,
- consultation during neonatal stabilization,
- guidance on key respiratory interventions, and
- rapid transport to a higher level of care.
