SESSION TIME
Quarterly Thursday
12:00-1:00 PM MST

The University of Utah Health's Neuroscience's Stroke Center offers a quarterly case review series open to any provider who may benefit from this educational series.

University of Utah Health's Stroke Center is the first comprehensive Stroke Center in the Mountain West and is widely recognized as the premier stroke receiving facility for the area, getting referrals from around a large six-state region.

More than 400+ stroke patients are seen a year both by referral and through telemedicine encounters, giving University of Utah Health unique expertise within this patient population.

These referrals oftentimes include many different aspects of patient care from the originating EMS responders and the transportation of the patient, to the care once the patient has arrived on site. These stories provide critical lessons that can help highlight the amazing work these individuals provide in addition to lessons learned and how we can be even more responsive to our patient’s needs.

Stroke Case Reviews

Case review series are an important part of medical education and largely have been closed to respective institutions. The series allows providers from across the state and nation to attend and gain insights into evidence-based stroke care and management.

Cases will be selected that provide educational value and lessons across the care spectrum. Cases will be supplemented by didactic presentations which will provide more in depth information surrounding a particular aspect of the case presentation.

The number of new strokes reported each year is approximately 800,000, making stroke the fourth leading cause of death in the US, and the number one cause of disability. Additionally, because stroke is age-related the incidence is expected to rise rapidly in the next decade. Improving clinical education surrounding this area can provide value to care teams, and the patient. University of Utah Health has long been a leader in stroke care and this offering further solidifies it’s commitment that advancing stroke care in this region is a priority.

Who Teaches the Virtual Seminars?

Sessions will be hosted by leading stroke experts Dr. Peter Hannon and Dr. Lee Chung.

CME Credit
